We extend an invitation to join UMA as a student member of the only Utah organization that represents all Utah physicians in all specialties and modes of practice, from medical students to fully licensed and practicing physicians. UMA is a physician-led, physician-driven organization with physicians deciding on policy and organized healthcare direction for Utah. UMA is here to support you as you move through your career as a physician. UMA provides professional and well-being opportunities, community development, tools, connections/networking opportunities, advocacy, and resources. UMA provides you the opportunity to participate in and understand organized medicine. UMA cares about the issues that concern you. When you join UMA, you hire powerful professional lobbyists to protect and advocate for the viability of your medical student experience. By protecting your practice from legal, legislative, and regulatory intrusions, your UMA membership lets you focus on what’s important - your patients AND PRAC. UMA tracks and responds to over 150 bills yearly in the legislature to protect physician interests and patient safety.

Here's what UMA did recently for UMA Members:
- Pushed for and received funding for expanded residency programs
- Fought inappropriate scope expansion battles from mid-levels (5 bills last year)
- Pushed for physician dispensing of legend drugs (in place now)
- Passed a medical malpractice reform bill to hopefully reduce lawsuits
- Reduced regulations for physicians
- Advocated for expanded Medicaid eligibility for children
- Pushed for and received funding for home visit services for newborns
